2021 Co
Founded in 2017, 2021 Co. is a Massachusetts-based stationery brand dedicated to bringing people together—one card at a time. Originally launched by friends Nicole Couto and Emily King, the brand was born from a shared desire to help people connect through life’s most meaningful moments, from difficult seasons to joyful celebrations.
Today, Emily King serves as the company’s owner, artist, and designer, continuing to create award-winning paper goods recognized for their whimsical lettering and vibrant illustrations. Each 2021 Co. card is designed as a miniature work of art, thoughtfully crafted with exceptional attention to detail and quality.
Now carried in more than 800 stores nationwide, 2021 Co.’s paper goods and licensed artwork can be found at leading retailers including Anthropologie, Paper Source, TJX Companies, Barnes & Noble, and many more—spreading connection, color, and creativity across the country.
A self-described introvert with a big creative spark, Emily loves blending structure and imagination in her work. She’s a busy mom to three kids and shares her lively home with her beloved pets. When she’s not in the studio creating, you can find her planning her next adventure to a new country, tracking down a great foodie spot, diving into a fresh stack of books, or practicing Krav Maga.
At the heart of everything she does is a generous spirit and a passion for using creativity to lift people up and give back.
Fun Facts
Emily is proudly a cat lady and would happily adopt far more than her current three if her husband weren’t allergic. Her guilty pleasure is a box of Extra Toasty Cheez-Its, and she’s a devoted library fan. Even when books are checked out only to be returned unread, the ritual has her heart—and her to-be-read pile is always impressive.
